Wheelersburg, OH Kiwanis Enjoy Learning About Diminished Value
By David Williams
Apr 20, 2005 - 12:24:00 AM

WHEELERSBURG, OHIO - Safe Collision Repairs’ David Williams was no stranger to the podium he stood behind as he spoke on the evening of April 19, 2005  to the Kiwanis Club of Wheelersburg, Ohio.  It was the same podium from which he addressed the club during the seventies and eighties as its Secretary, Vice President, and finally its president in 1985-1986.

"It felt good to come back home to the Kiwanis club  and see many of the same familiar faces still actively serving the community of Wheelersburg,” Williams told his wife, Clarissa, who also accompanied him.

After a short exchange of pleasantries with long-time club member, Paul Maple, Williams  took the stage and the audience quickly became engrossed in his presentation which relayed the benefits of post-repair inspection and the concept of diminished value (DV).  DV  is a component of auto insurance claims, necessary to indemnify policyholders and third-party claimants after an accident.

For most, it was their first introduction to diminished value, but the audience quickly grasped the concept.  They easily understood, from incidences of their own misfortune where they wound up on the short end of the stick, the meaning of the banner that Williams hung in front of the room which proclaimed, “DV is the Best-Kept Secret of Insurance Companies.”

Program Chairman, Bob Walton, Jr. booked Williams upon recommendation of another club member whose son had recently been involved in a traffic mishap, and  had strategized with him to learn the secrets of getting the best repair possible on his auto.  Williams invited all club members to call him for a free consultation anytime they had auto collision repair questions.  Each person in attendance left the meeting armed with free information that would assist them in dealing with insurance companies and tight-fisted claims adjusters.

“No longer do people have to be victims of unscrupulous insurance companies who seek to benefit by paying less than they owe,” says Williams.  “With diminished value, consumers have a tool with which to hold insurers accountable, especially when poor quality repairs are received at the direction of unscrupulous claims adjusters seeking to save their companies money.”

Williams would like to thank the club president, Opal Spears, program chairman, Bob Walton, and the members of the Wheelersburg Kiwanis Club for the invitation to speak.  He conveys best wishes and much continued success to this very active and worthwhile chapter of  Kiwanis International in Wheelersburg, Ohio.
